Backcountry Basecamp970-944-0181
Backcountry Basecamp invites you to spend a relaxing stay in our comfortable little lodge in the Lake City Historic District: walk to downtown restaurants and shops. Our Log Lodge offers four bedrooms and four baths, one of the bedrooms has two sets of bunk beds. You can rent the entire lodge, a room or hostel style by the bed. We welcome hunters, trail users, ice climbers and anyone else that is looking for adventure in the San Juan Mountains of Colorado. There are FIVE 14ers just outside town and many trails for an easier excursion into the mountains. There are miles and miles of trout streams on public lands throughout the Lake Fork Valley. You can take a 4WD tour on the Alpine Loop Scenic Byway, visit a few ghost towns such as Henson, Capitol City, Animas Forks, and Carson, and be back in time for dinner. A few local businesses offer ATV, jeep, and snowmobile rentals. Besides the snowmobiling, if you are here in the winter remember we have the Lake City Ski Hill and the Ice Climbing Park just up Henson Creek. If you rent for the whole lodge for your family, we offer discounted rates. Call for Winter Discounts -- October through May.
